Narrative Pitch: ELVTR Course with Adam Miller
In 2024 I took part in an online course run by Adam Miller, (Destiny 2, Tell Tale’s: The Walking Dead). During the course, I learnt how to use Miro, write professional gameplay and cinematic scripts and format a narrative pitch and proposal.
I have taken on board with what he said during a one-to-one tutoring session and have linked before and after writing samples to show my growth from one edition to the next.
The world of this game is set in the same one as my novel, Only Human. However, it is around five to ten years after the event of the book and features a more detailed look into how magic users exist in the world.
I would like to say a huge thank you to the ELVTR team and Adam Miller, Kwan Perng and Chris Reckling for all the support and for the course.
A little about Blood Country
Blood Country is a third-person RPG set in an atomic-steam industrial revolution fantasy world. The Federal Commonwealth of Leifland takes the place of The United States of America as a country in the throes of civil war. The player will be thrust into a world of conflict, mental health, and substance abuse. Taking control of The Arcanist, a war veteran who gained acclaim during the Battle of Arcanium Fields. The player must navigate through the effects that war has on people and a country.
War is always seen from an outsider’s perspective in media. In history it is statistics, in the news, it is wins and losses and in games it is fun. Blood Country strives to show that war never truly ends for the people it affects. The Arcanist suffers an addiction to purple snuff, made from the same infusion powder that powers their magic. This addiction only compounds their PTSD-induced hallucinations and episodes, in which, the player will lose control momentarily just like the character. With these themes, Bloody Country will show that war should always be treated for what it is, a massacre of innocents.
